"The Light House at the End of the World"
translated by Kike Benlloch Castinheira / October'98

El faro del fin del mundo ["The Light House at the End of the World"]

By "Los burros" ["The Donkeys"]

Extracted from the EP "Rebuznos de amor" ["Brayings of love"]

Released by Grabaciones accidentales (1983)

I arrived at the land of simple things,

through the paths of tiredness and loneliness,

I crossed teethless countrysides.

Children can spend the whole day playing.

I haven't lost my determination,

I haven't fought to give up in the end.

They drew smiles on their faces for me,

and when I turned around they tried to stab me on my back.

No punishment for winners,

neither redemption for the defeated.

If you cross, stop laughing.

If you're back, break my future.

I quit the ice factory,

I ran happy, insanely glad,

I searched for Susana in the neighbourhood cinemas,

all the evening, until I got drunk.

The light house at the end of the world.
