Copyright issues We've seen recently cases such as that of the Siegels Vs DC for Superman and Wolfman Vs Marvel for Blade. Do you think that this means the work-for-hire system will stop being the essential form of work within the mainstream? No, I do not. This is a very complex issue and it dates back to the beginning of the medium. What I hope will be the end result of all of this is a more equitable profit sharing between the work-for-hire publishers and the creators. More, I hope that will be retroactive so that creators like Murphy Anderson, Herb Trimpe, Martin Nodell and others, who are in their twilight years will be able to profit more from their creations. I think it's the right thing to do and I would hope that these cases point out to the conglomerates the necessity of doing it. But, only time will tell. In case not, what do you think all these situations represent? What lies behind them? I am uncertain I understand the question. Obviously what lies behind them is money! A change in the copyright laws means that creators, who indeed were paid for work, can now claim a fair share of profits from their creations.
